A Little Good News Today!

I am so excited! Would you like to know why?! Cricut had a card contest they announced last week and I thought... what the heck.. why not give it a try! We all know that I am card challenged and I thought it would be a great way to challenge myself! Well... today I found out that they selected my card as one of the winners!! Whooo Hooo!! Here is the card I made....
We had our choice of  3 carts we were to use... I used Don Juan for this one. We also were to use something from Anna Griffith. The only thing I had was one stack of her paper so that is what I used!! I even got a little crazy and tried out my Cricut Gel Pens for the first time for the sentiment! They worked great and I now know that I should have tried them a long time ago!

Thank you Jinger Adams and Cricut for picking my card as one of the winners from over 150 entries!!

Happy Thursday everyone! I have a LO I created for you using the new sketch at Sketches In Thyme!
One of my New Years Resolutions is to finish up some projects in my scrap room before starting any new ones! These pictures are of Lauren when we were in Hawaii in December of '07!! Boy, I am sooo behind! This trip was so much fun because it was Lauren's first trip to Maui and she was the only child we took with us! (The older 3 had been there before and were involved in winter sports that they couldn't leave for.) Lauren loved all the attention she got from Greg and I and this was the start of her posing stage... ykwim? Everytime I had the camera out, she was striking a pose! And even if I didn't have it out, she would strike a pose and insist I get it out!! I have SOOOO many photos of her from this trip!

Here is this week's sketch. It comes from Sketchabilities and was super easy to work with!
I think part of the reason I didn't scrap these photos sooner was because I was having a hard time combining the Christmas theme with the Hawaiian theme. But, while I was putting away some of my Christmas papers, I found these and thought the pink in them were perfect for these photos! It brings out the pink in Lauren's dress! And I remembered this darling little song they kept playing while we were there which became the title of the LO! It means Merry Christmas in Hawaii!

Supplies Used:
Papers and most embellies: SEI
Red Flowers, gem brads and letters: Making Memories
Punches: Martha Stewart
Cricut: Ashlyn's Alphabet
Glossy Accents

Thanks for stopping by to visit today! I love all the kind comments my wonderful bloggy friends leave for me! Be sure to stop over at the Sketches in Thyme blog to see what the other DT Mavens have done! And then be sure to play along... you could win a prize!   Have a great weekend!

School Picture

I have another LO to share with you this week and I even made a card! Whoo Hoo! So... here is my LO for my sweet daughters 3rd grade photo....

I used the sketch from one of my favorite blogs... Stuck On U Sketches! Thanks Ladies for another great sketch and DT inspiration! I am kind of proud of the fact that I actually journaled on this one... something I don't do nearly enough of!

And.. I had a package to send to my sister who recently moved to Japan so I thought it would be appropriate to break out my Pagoda cartridge for her card! It was simple but I think she will like it!

I used the current sketch we have right now at Frosted Designs. Even though it was meant to be a scrapbook page, I thought it was perfect for a card!!

Thanks for stopping by today and thanks for all of your sweet comments!

Forever Love!

Good morning! Are you up for a new challenge?! Well, it is Friday and we all know what that means... a new challenge at Frosted Designs! This week we are asking you to get a little messy and use paint!!

Are you asking... where then is the paint on your layout?! Well that is easy! It is on the cardstock behind the main photo! How about a close up....
You see... I painted my embossing folder before placing the cardstock in it and running it through the Cuttlebug! I love the way it turned out! I will definitely be doing more of this in the future!

And I can't go without saying... How cute are my parent's on their wedding day?! I think they are just adorable! I wanted a romantic looking LO for these sweet pictures and the papers from my Lucky Girl January kit were just perfect! Most of the embellishments were from my stash except for the gorgeous white flower ribbon that came in the kit. I misted it with some glimmer mist that I made on my own!
I used the sketch from over at Sketchy Thursdays for this LO... loved it as soon as I saw it!

Be sure to stop by the Frosted Designs blog to see all the creative ways our team used paint this week! And... be sure to check out Frosted Designs on Sunday, Joni is going to share a tutorial on how to do that very cool background on her LO!

Valentine's Cards

Happy Friday everyone! It has been a pretty good week here and now it is time for a new challenge at Frosted Designs! This week we are asking you to use acrylic, vellum or transparencies on your cards, layouts and projects! Our sponsor this week is Stitchy Bear Stamps and they were nice enough to provide our team with a few digis to work with. I am very new to digis and have not made the investment in Copics just yet. And... I am on a scrapbooking spending freeze soooo I don't have many Valentine's papers and my selections were limited!! With that said... here are 2 Valentine's Cards I made this week....
This card was made using the sketch at Cardabilities. I used a vellum heart that I ran through the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder and added some stickles! You know I love to bling up my projects!! The Stitchy Bear Stamps digi I used on this card is called Valentine's Scruffles!

This card was made using the sketch at Mojo Monday! I used pink vellum on this one that I also ran through the Cuttlebug to get the heart pattern on it! The Stitchy Bear Stamps digi is called Bunnyblu!

I will be sending these cards out to my 2 oldest daughters with some fun Valentine's treats! I hope you get a chance to stop by Frosted Designs to see what the rest of our team did and better yet... I would love to see you play along!! Have a great weekend!

Valentine Treat Bags!

Hello everyone!  I hope you are all staying warm and out of the snow! Today I am sharing this project over at She's A Sassy Lady blog... be sure to stop by and check the blog out! Sheila has a large team of guest designers that offer up a new tutorial every day! I have learned so much already from the other ladies on the team.... I'm sure you will too!!

Now... on to my project! My daughter likes to take treats to every person she knows for every holiday. This year for Valentine's Day, we thought we would make these cute little treat bags!
These are simple to do and something you can do with your kids!

Supplies Needed:
Patterned paper
Solid Color Cardstock
Ribbon
Satin Fabric
Brads
Clear Bags
Lighter
And of course, your adhesives of choice!

I used the one of tags from the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cartridge. The tag on the left is the one I started with. I altered the height and width so it would fit my clear bags. My bags were 4 inches wide so I went almost 4.5 inches so that I had a little room on each side of the bag. The height was set around 3 inches. This is the one I cut on the patterned paper. I took the same shape and made it slightly larger and cut it again using the red cardstock so that I could layer them.

Here is what it looks like when they are cut. I was careful to fold these so that when they were layered they lined up correctly. I used my Martha Stewart scoring tool for this. I also went ahead a placed a piece of ribbon around the top layer and taped it on the back before adhering the layers together.

I needed a little embellishment for this darling little treat bag so I raided my daughters fabric stash and found this beautiful pink satin fabric. I cut 3 circles... each one slightly larger than the one before. These do not need to be perfect circles... in fact they look better if they aren't!

If you remember my post from a few months ago, you may remember my fondness for flames!! I used the lighter to singe the edge of each circle. You do not want the flame to touch the fabric, just get it close enough that it melts the edges.

When the edges start to melt, the circles curl up a little which makes it perfect for flowers! Here are the circles stacked and ready for a brad.

I added a brad to the center and used a glue dot to adhere it to the paper.

And for those of you who are afraid you are going to burn down your house, I have another option for you! Instead of melting the edges (you can tell from this picture that melting this fabric didn't work so well.. I actually started to burn it!! Ooops!!) you can add a little glue and these Martha Stewart microbeads. I added 3 brads to this one just to make it a little different!

And here is the final project! I'm sure we will be making some cards to deliver with these! I hope you enjoyed this project and got some new ideas! You can find sassy's blog HERE! Thank you stopping by! I will be back tomorrow with a new Frosted Designs challenge!

Two more cards!

I have to admit... I am completely surprising myself with all the cards I have made lately!! It was one of my goals this year so I think I am off to a great start!

We have a new Fabulous Friday Challenge at Frosted Designs. This week we are asking you to pick a color and stick to it! Yep... it's all about monochromatic this week!! I don't know about all of you, but I have NEVER made a single thing that was monochromatic so this was really a challenge for me! Our sponsor this week is Craft Your Passion and the sweet Sammibug was a darling and sent us some fabulous digis to work with! Here is the card I made with the Chasing the Butterfly digi....

I wasn't so sure about this when I started but I love the way it turned out! I even impressed myself (not hard to do) when I paper pieced together the little girls outfit!! I know I was supposed to stick to one color but I couldn't resist letting her chase a pink butterfly!!

I used the card sketch from Sketches in Thyme for this card! I am part of the layout team but don't usually mess with the cards.... I leave that for the pros!  :) I do like how this card turned out!

And now for my second card this week....

This one is for our Sketch Along Tuesday Sketch at Frosted Designs. (Sorry it has taken me all week to get it posted!) The sketch was created by our very own Libeeti and is meant to be for a LO but I think it worked just fine for the card!! I just flipped the sketch and straightened it out a bit!  :)

We would love to have you play along with our monochromatic challenge and our sketch challenge. If you do a monochromatic LO with this sketch you can enter it into both categories for a chance to win each of the prizes!

Ohhh... I don't want to forget.... I have a MAJOR giveaway coming your way on Monday!!! I am so excited I can hardly stand it!! Be sure to check back Monday morning for the LO I made with my precious daughter and news on how you can win this amazing prize!!! Do I have you wanting to race back?!! I hope so!! Have a great weekend and be sure to stop over at Frosted Designs to see what our design team did with this week's challenge!!

Scrapping for fun!

Thursday was a great day for me... I finally had time to do some scrapping that was just for fun! I didn't have any deadlines to meet for design teams so I picked a few challenge blogs and decided to play along!
This first LO is of my sweet little girl 2 years ago at her cheer camp. She was so cute doing her little cheer!
I used the sketch from Sketchabilities #38...
This also works for Scrapfit because they want us to use our scraps! Boy did I use scraps on this one! The papers are from 2 different stacks that I have had for ages!!
And because Frosted Design's challenge this week is to use 3 or more photos, I was able to use this for that challenge too! (It was my week off but I decided to do a LO anyway!!)

This next LO is from the cruise we took last April Greg (my hubby) and Matt (my son) were going through this play fight stage soooo... what else was I to do but to scrap it!!  heehee!
I had a lot of fun distressing, stapling, inking and misting all the pieces on this LO!
This LO was made using the Sketchy Thursdays sketch...

We thought when we moved to Texas we would escape the winter weather... but we were wrong! We got dumped on with snow on Sunday! When we went into church it was doing a sleeting rain thing but when we came out, there was already 2-3 inches of snow on the ground! Here are a few pictures of our day....

This is our backyard... my poor, poor palm trees!!

This is Lauren with two of her buddies that live on our street!

I can't wait to scrap this picture of Lauren! She was having so much fun!

Greg and I had to get a picture in the snow!

My son needed to clean his truck off!

These are all the neighborhood ladies that were brave enough to get out and play with the kids!
We had so much fun! Now it can all melt and get up to 60 degrees again!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Girls Day Out!

Good morning! I hope your day is off to a great start! I just dropped my daughter off at school and am enjoying a quiet cup of coffee! The days since I have been back from Indiana have been very busy but now that all the Christmas decorations are put away, the house is clean and errands have been completed, I am finally able to sit back, spend the day scrapping and catching up on some blogs! It is going to be a great day!

We have a new sketch challenge going on at Sketches in Thyme. Here is my LO....

I really wish I could have gotten a better photo of this LO... the colors look so much better in person! Oh well... we all have days like that, don't we?!  :) These pictures were taken during our visit to Indiana over the holidays. Prior to moving, my sister and I would take our kids to the local outdoor skating rink for an afternoon of fun. So of course, we had to fit this activity in while we were home! This year, Courtney, my oldest daughter decided to join us!! (It's amazing what your children will do for you when they go 4 months without seeing you!! lol!!)

The sketch this week is a beautiful one by Jana Eubank. I, of course, flipped the sketch to make it work better with my photos. I also left off the oval around the picture... it just wasn't working on my LO! Other than that.... I pretty much stuck to it!  :)

I loved the way this ribbon border across the bottom of the page turned out. I wanted to pleat the ribbon and decided to use these yummy brads to hold the pleats.... I love the way it made the ribbon fan out at the top!

I thought the letters needed a little bling so I added a little glue to the top of the letters and then sprinkled with glitter! I also hand stitched across the bottom of the red paper and under each of the mini letters that I used.... I thought it "grounded" those pieces a little more!

Supplies used:
Papers: SEI
Flourish: Prima
Letters: Thickers and Making Memories
Ribbons, brads and tree tag: SEI
Snowflakes: K & Company
Punches: Martha Stewart

This LO is also being entered in the Creative Belli Blog Challenge #108 - Snow!

Thanks for stopping by to visit today! I hope you have a chance to play along with us at Sketches in Thyme. Be sure to stop by and see what the rest of the design team did with this sketch! We also have 2 very talented guest designers you are going to want to meet! Have a great day and hopefully I will get a few projects done today that I will be able to share! There are a few challenges out there I would love to play along with!
