Frosted Designs Sketch Blog Hop!

Hello!!! And welcome to my blog! If you are here for the Frosted Designs Sketch Blog Hop, you should have arrived from Sandra's blog! If you are just getting started, go to Frosted Designs and you will find the starting point there!

First of all, thank you to our amazing sponsors:

Be sure to stop by their blogs and Facebook pages and thank them for sponsoring this blog hop!

For this blog hop, we have given you a sketch and a list of items and techniques to use on a card, layout or off the page project. I chose to do a layout....

I know what you are saying... this does not look like the sketch! And you are right! For some reason, my layouts aways end up looking completely different from the sketch, but that is okay! That just means that I added my own personality and touches to it!! lol!!

One of the techniques from the list is inking... certainly had that covered on this one! I also had several of the items listed including: pearls/bling, flowers, chipboard & patterned paper!

Another technique I used was embossing. For the heart and those brown corners, I first dry embossed a piece of kraft paper, inked the edges and then heat embossed them with a clear embossing powder! It's an easy way to make my own embellishments! I also had layering and misting in my list of techniques!

A blog hop would not be complete without a prize! How is this for a prize?

Quick Quotes - Brother

*I have 2 posts for you today so if you are looking for the Frosted Designs challenge, you need to scroll down a bit!

I don't mean to brag, but... I have the BEST brother in the whole, wide, world!! Seriously, I do! My brother came to visit me last week and we had a wonderful time! Greg (my brother) constantly wears a smile, is always super positive and strikes up a conversation with everyone he meets! Since he is such a special person, I wanted to create a special layout for him and the Stowaway Line was perfect!

The blues and browns in the Stowaway collection are perfect for so many different themes. I added a burlap flower to make it a little more masculine.

I love the look of vellum quotes on a layout but sometimes I think it is tricky to adhere them without seeing the adhesive. I wanted to try something different so I decided to stitch this one on. This vellum quote came from the Quick Quotes Family Bundle.

I love that the Quick Quotes Bundles not only have quotes in them, but they also have journal spots. This journal spot is from the Inspire Bundle.

Attaching a vellum quote is so easy. Here is a video tutorial to show you how I did it!

Frosted Designs - Punch Challenge!

Is it really Memorial Day weekend already?! Wow! Where did May go?! My daughter finished her last day of school yesterday so we are officially on summer vacation! And to help keep you crafty and motivated, Frosted Designs has a new challenge for you! This week we are asking you to use a punch (or two, or three...) on your card, layout or off the page project! How simple is that?! Our Design Team did an amazing job with this challenge so make sure you check out the Frosted Designs blog for 4 straight days of inspiration! Here is my layout....

This week I did something I don't do enough of.... I did a layout of my husband and I! This picture was taken on Easter a few years ago and it is one of my favorites!

Here you can see that I used 2 different border punches! I also used a punch to create the arrows.

I punched hearts out and placed them on the background paper before misting my paper to create a mask. I then used a black pen to outline the hearts so that they could be seen better. The hearts that I used as masks became the kraft paper heart embellishments!

That cute little flower was made by using punched hearts. (Which are glued on to a punched circle!) I fussy cut a flower from one of the patterned papers for the center!

Now that you have checked out my layout, be sure to head over to Frosted Designs to see more inspiration! Play along and you could win a prize from Boys Rule Kit Club!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Craftwork Cards CANDi - Eleven!

Good Monday morning to you! I have a fun layout celebrating my daughter's 11th birthday to share with you!

These fun Echo Park papers were perfect for my daughter's party photos! The theme was candy! Yum!!

I added a few Basic Grey Chipboard embellishments along with some My Mind's Eye die cuts!

I love that CANDi adds a fun splash of color with dimension to my layouts! Here I used one up in the corner.

I lined some CANDi up to help create a border and even used one for the center of my flower!

Here is the CANDi used on this layout...
Gingham Strata

Polka Dots Citrus Burst

Polka Dots Raspberry Truffle

I hope you have a wonderful week and find some time to create something crafty!

The tag pulls out and has a "Mother" quote written on vellum on it.

Enjoy your day!

Quick Quotes Be Bold Mini Album

Quick Quotes has released some fabulous new products and one of my favorites are these wonderful mini albums! Some of the collections have the mini albums that match directly with the line and Be Bold is one of them!

The cover is already so beautiful! All I did was add a little ribbon.

Quick Quotes mini albums have these beautiful pages inside. The paper coordinates with the Be Bold line and since they already look amazing, I really didn't have to do much decorating myself!

The Sentiment and Journal spot were both cut from the Be Bold 6x6 Paper Stack. These were the perfect embellishment to many of my pages!

I wanted you to see the page before I added my photos. It's bright and colorful! Perfect for vacation photos.

And here is the page after the photos and a few embellishments!

The Be Bold Stickers also work great in the album!

The darling little banner was cut from the paper in the 6x6 paper stack. The smaller print worked great for the small embellishment.

I used foam adhesive behind the "Paradise Found" card. It added some dimension to the layering of the elements.

I loved the surfboard embellishments on the sentiment cards.

The surfboards were fussy cut from 12x12 Be Bold. I tucked them into my "waves" to add to the surfer feel of the page. The edges of the waves were inked with Tahiti PowderPuff Chalking Ink.

My daughter celebrated her birthday while we were in Maui. I love that this line worked perfectly for my surfer dude and for a sweet birthday celebration for my baby girl.

I layered a banner made from a sheet of the 6x6 paper stack along with ribbon.  I added some baker's twine and a few flowers to finish it off.

I had so much fun creating this album, it inspired me to create a video, too! This video highlights all the great features of this mini album!
