Craftwork Cards CANDi - Oh Mickey!

Hello! It is my turn to share on the Craftwork Cards Blog today! I have to be honest... since I have received my shipment of CANDi, I have added it to nearly every project I have worked on! I love the fun colors and patterns and the fact that it is so light weight!

This is a fun layout I created of my daughter who was having fun with the Mickey Mouse statue on Hollywood Blvd!

The CANDi circles were easy to create and added some nice dimension to my page. They were much easier than brads would have been.. can you imagine poking all those holes and getting them spaced perfectly?!

To add interest, I made one large circle and one small circle. I used CANDi fix foam adhesive to adhere  this circle to the layout. I wanted the CANDi in the center of the flower to lay flat so it was adhered using regular glue.

I love the cute little flags I made on this layout! I used bakers twine to stitch them together!

Here are the CANDi colors I used on this layout....

Rainforest

School Days
Coffee Bean
Would you like some CANDi?! You can find it HERE and HERE!

Frosted Designs - Happiness is...

Happy Friday everyone! I hope that those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving had a wonderful day with friends and family! I know I did! I had all of my kids with me this year!

It isn't easy trying to get everyone together for a photo but I finally got one I liked!  :) Now we are off for some serious Black Friday Shopping! Watch out!

And since it is Friday, that means we have a new challenge up for you at Frosted Designs! This week we are asking you to use the theme "Happiness Is..." on your card, layout or off the page project! You don't have to use the words but have to show something that reflects it. Here is my layout...

The thing that makes my daughter the happiest is hanging out with all of her friends at the studio! Even though I didn't include the words, this definitely qualifies!

I had a lot of fun layering papers, trims, washi tape and even cardboard from a Starbucks coffee sleeve!

These girls love to be in front of the camera so this chipboard camera was the perfect embellishment!

Be sure to link up your "Happiness Is... " project for a chance to win an 8x10 photo canvas! Also, you are going to want to check out what our Designers at Frosted Designs did to inspire you!

Have a great weekend!

Quick Quotes/Clear Scraps Blog Hop

*IF YOU ARE HERE FOR THE FROSTED DESIGNS BLOG HOP

Hello! And welcome to the Quick Quotes/ Clear Scraps Blog Hop! I received a fun acrylic/chipboard album from Clear Scraps called "Spring" to play with! I combined it with Quick Quotes Just Because Line and this is what I created....

This album is full of great layers of acrylic and chipboard! Each page is a different cut. The first was butterflies, then flowers followed by leaves... so cool! And perfect for my zoo photos!

I used paint pens to add borders to most of the pages.

I layered 2 banners for the title and added some pop dots for dimension.

I used flowers to help outline the border of the butterfly and carried the flower theme onto the next page.

I love the Clear Scraps albums because they really challenge me as a designer... I have to think about the front and back of a page at the same time since the page is clear! To help hide the adhesive from the banner on the front cover, I used this tag and sentiment on the opposite side.

The page on the right was really challenging for me since it had the shapes of leaves cut out. I figured out that using one large photo at the bottom with 2 smaller photos towards the top worked well. I repeated the same thing on the back side of this page.

Quick Quotes Just Because Line is one of my all time favorites! One reason is the fun color combinations and patterns but the other reason is because it has all these great quotes that coordinate with it. This one was perfect since the zoo trip was all about spending time with grandparents!

Lauren and Brayden had a great time with the goats. On one page they are hugging them, on the other page, Lauren is letting those goats have it! I made a few flags, banners and butterflies as embellishments on these pages.

On the last clear page, I added a cardstock piece of paper that I placed right down the middle.

I fussy cut this flower border from one of the patterned papers and used it as an embellishment.

And finally, the back cover! Very simple, but in my opinion, the perfect ending to this album!

Sorry this post was a little picture heavy... I wanted to show you all of the album!

Thank you for stopping by today!

My New Design Team!

*IF YOU ARE HERE FOR THE FROSTED DESIGNS BLOG HOP

Hello! I am thrilled to be sharing my first layout with you as part of the new Craftwork Cards CANDi Design Team!! I love CANDi!! Before CANDi, I loved to use brads on my cards, layouts and other projects but I didn't like it when I put the brad in the wrong spot because it couldn't be moved! CANDi solves that problem... they are just like brads, except they don't have those annoying legs you have to stick through your paper! It allows me the chance to lay them right on my project, move them around and adhere them when I am ready! :)

Here is a Christmas layout I created using CANDi....

They are perfect for adding some dimension to layouts and they come in so many colors! Gotta love that!  Here I used them to embellish the snowflakes "falling" down the side of my layout!

I love that CANDi comes in various patterns! This CANDi is from the Very Merry Silver Pack. The touch of silver makes it the perfect holiday embellishment!

You can also get CANDi in solid colors! These are from the Rainforest Pack.

There are so many more patterns and colors to choose from. Be sure to check out the Craftwork Cards Store to see the huge variety!

My ingredient in the Recipe is.....
Embossing!
It can be heat embossing or dry embossing (like I did!)

To inspire you, I created this fall layout....

These pictures are from my daughter's second grade Thanksgiving Feast at school. I combined Bella Blvd, Echo Park and a little BoBunny.

The chipboard leaves are from Quick Quotes and I used the PowderPuff Chalking Inks to color them! I love my PowderPuff Chalking Inks!

I dry embossed the green scalloped paper.

Quick Quotes - Lauren's First Christmas

I have some exciting news to share!
I am a member of the Craftwork Cards CANDi Design Team!

Photobucket

I LOVE CANDi! What is CANDi you ask? Well, the best way to describe them is a brad without legs! They are so colorful, come in so many patterns and work great on cards, layouts and all my other projects! This weekend, we are introducing the team... click HERE to see the post! (We are giving away a prize!) You can also find the store HERE! And then on Monday, I will have my first CANDi post up on the blog! Make sure you check it out!

Today is also my day to share my layout on the Quick Quotes Blog! It is so hard to believe that it is already November! Christmas is going to be here before we know it! To get me in the Christmas spirit, I created this layout of my daughter's first Christmas.

When I was making this layout, I wanted something I could frame and use as part of my Christmas decorations year after year. The colors and patterns in the Cracklin' Rose line are so rich and elegant... so perfect for this kind of project! The tree on this layout is a chipboard laser die cut - Christmas Tree. One of the things I like best about Quick Quotes chipboard products are that they are so easy to alter. Let me show you how I got my tree to look like this.

I started by painting the tree with white gesso. I wanted to give it a light colored surface to ink over later. You could also use white craft paint for this.

Quick Quotes has a wonderful variety of colors with their PowderPuff Chalking Inks but I couldn't find the exact color I wanted for this tree so I decided to create my own. Once the white gesso dried, I inked each piece with PowderPuff Chalking Ink in Lemonade. Once that was dry, I went over the Lemonade color with Biscotti. This gave the chipboard the golden color I was going for.

Once the ink dried, I ran the chipboard through my Cuttlebug machine to add some design and texture. The present on the left is what it looked like after being embossed. The present on the right shows what it looked like after I added PowderPuff Chalking Ink in Amaretto to the raised portions.

For the next step, I added Crackle Accents to all of the chipboard pieces. Once that was dry, I added even more ink! This time I added PowderPuff Chalking Ink in Mocha Mama. You can see in the photo above the before and after. The presents have the final ink added to them and the tree does not. The combination of ink colors worked perfectly for my layout.

I used the presents as my journal spots. I added some Cracklin' Rose paper behind them that had been misted with Shimmer Mist. I used rub-ons for the journaling.

I added different sizes of pearls and some colored twine to "decorate" the tree.

The double sided papers in the Cracklin' Rose line make it so easy to layer and coordinate perfectly!

And I couldn't resist one more look at the photo... doesn't she look like a doll in Santa's arms?! I love the way the layout turned out and can not wait to display it with my Christmas decorations in December!

Frosted Designs - "Tis the Season!

Wow! Where in the world did October go?! I can't believe we are in November already! The good news is, that is when I will officially let myself start in on Christmas projects! So... I made my first Christmas card!

This week at Frosted Designs, we are challenging you to use our sketch:

One of the things I liked best about this sketch is that it worked great for scrapbook layouts but it also looks amazing as a card! (At least I think so!)  :)

I pop dotted the sentiment/picture so that it stood out a bit on the card. I liked the dimension it added!

And a close up of the flowers! I added a pop of brighter red in there and loved the way it popped off the card!

Many of you asked for sketches when we stopped doing our Sketch Along Tuesday Features... well, here is you chance! Come play along! And check out all the amazing projects our Design Team created to inspire you!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned Paper: Quick Quotes Cracklin' Rose
Flowers: KaiserCraft, Petaloo, Michaels
Punch: Martha Stewart
Ribbon: American Crafts
Pearls: Prima Marketing
Ink: Quick Quotes

AND..... MARK YOUR CALENDARS! NEXT FRIDAY IS THE START OF OUR BLOG HOP!!

Have a great weekend!
