Quick Quotes + Xyron Blog Hop

Hello everyone! I am excited to share a layout I created for the Quick Quotes + Xyron Blog Hop! I used Quick Quotes new Calypso Line and Xyron Adhesives! What a fabulous combination!!

It is very rare that I can get a photo of my daughter and son together, smiling! So, when that rare occasion happens, I have to take advantage of it and get it on a layout! And since this hardly ever happens, it explains why I only had one photo to work with! I love this particular sheet of paper from the Calypso line. It is perfect for a background piece!

The quote on this layout was cut from the Calypso 500 paper that is full of quotes! Since I really dislike coming up with titles for my layouts, this is a great solution for me!  I used the Xyron glue stick to adhere the dark blue flower like die-cuts behind it. The 1.5 inch "X" Sticker Maker worked perfectly for adding the felt flowers! I even used it for the sequin!

I loved using the Xyron Mega Runner to adhere all the layers of papers on my layout! It was easy to use and held the papers well!

I really love the chipboard die-cut stickers that coordinate with the Calypso line! They are the perfect little embellishment to add a little personality to your page!

Quick Quotes - Island Life

Hello Everyone! Barb here to host the blog today! Spring is definitely in the air! (Unless of course you live in the desert like I do… we went straight to summer!) Quick Quotes new lines are perfect for your spring and summer photos!

I really wanted to keep this layout clean and simple! After all, the papers and colors are already so fabulous! And I really wanted the focus to be on this sweet photo of my daughter and her friend!

I fussy cut the big blue flower from one of the papers in the Serendipity Line. I also hand stitched a few circles on this layout with blue embroidery floss. I used PowderPuff Chalking Ink in different shades of blue around the edges of the circles and photo mats.

This blue flower was from one of the Calypso papers. The center of the flower was orange and I decided I wanted it white! I just used a white pen I had in my stash to cover it up!

I also fussy cut a few of these smaller flowers and scattered them around the layout.

If you haven't picked up these papers yet, you need to!! They are perfect for all of your spring & summer projects!

Quick Quotes - Happy Mother's Day!

Hello everyone! Barb here today to host the blog! I have a Mother's Day Card to share with you and I thought I would show you how I made the flowers on it!

Quick Quotes has some beautiful new lines and I am using two of them on this card...the Calypso line and the Serendipity line!

I started with this paper (Calypso 200). My original plan was to fussy cut several flowers. But after looking closely at this paper, there was just a little too much overlapping of the flowers to be able to achieve the look I was going for. So, I fussy cut 3 of the blue flowers.

I then used the blue flowers as my pattern to trace and cut several more flowers from some of the other papers. I picked papers that pretty much had a solid color with minimal design.

After they were cut out, I inked all of the edges with Coal Miner PowderPuff Chalking Ink.

I liked the design that was on the blue flower (top left). I traced the design with a white pen on the blue flower and then made a similar design on all of the other flowers. (You really only need to do it on the smaller flowers that will be on top when they are layered.)

Next step is to layer the flowers, mixing up the color combinations on each one.

This snowflake punch was the closest thing I had to create the center of the flowers. I used the darker blue sheet of paper for this.

Here are the completed flowers all put together. All that was left was to adhere them to the front of the card.

I saved one for the inside of the card!

The Happy Mother's Day sentiment is a vellum quote from the Itty Bitty Vellum Quote Box - Sentiments

Remember to do something nice for your mother this Mother's Day!

Frosted Designs - Celebrating Our Graduate!

Happy Friday everyone! I had a few quite hours where I had the house completely to myself so I took advantage of that and started to play with some of the messy products sitting on my desk! I added in some of the items from Frosted Designs Kits and this is what I created!

Last May my daughter graduated from Evangel University and we couldn't be more proud! Even though the weather wasn't very Spring-like that day, I decided to make a Spring-Like layout!  :)

I had a lot of fun getting a little messy on this one! I started by spraying a little Dylusions Ink (Lemon Zest) on the background paper (which was in the Love is in the Air  kit). I then used my Koi Water Brush along with the Watercolor Crayons to add a little orange to the background. I love the water color look! Finally, I used the stencil (from the November Mixed Media Kit) and some Gelatos to create the blue circles!

The patterned papers I layered behind the photo were from the Shades of Spring Kit. I outlined the edges of the patterned paper and scalloped frame on the photo with the Black Gelly Roll Pen! It is perfect for this! I LOVE the black chevron Trendy Tape from Queen & Co so I added that in a few places! Do you like the Studio Calico polaroid die cut? It is from the Sea Breeze Kit! Don't you love it when you have bits and pieces left from kits that you can use like this?!  :)

Finally I added a few extras down in the corner of the layout! I can't get enough of the Maya Road Vintage Metal Trinkets!

Tomorrow is National Scrapbooking Day! I hope you get some time to play and create! If you need supplies, you might want to check out the Sale going on in the Frosted Designs Store!
