Stinky Fish!

I have a daughter who is always taking silly pictures and I have to admit.... they are so much more fun to use in my scrapbooking layouts! Normally, when I use the One Fine Day paper line, I am making sweet, pretty pages but today, I wanted to try to grunge them up a bit! Here is what I created....

After adding a few paint splatters, some messy stitching and a lot of PowderPuff Chalking Ink, I was able to create the look I was going for!

The chipboard flower and circle are from the Quick Quotes Bag O'Chips Stackable Flowers. I used the PowderPuff Chalking Ink in Baja Blue to color the petals of the flower and Mango Mai Tai to ink the chipboard circle and patterned paper.

I took the lid off the water bottle I had sitting at my desk and added PowderPuff Chalking Ink in Mocha Mama to create the circles on my layout.

And of course, I used the PowderPuff Chalking Inks to add some color to the ordinary, white office tags.

I used Mango Mai Tai to ink the edges of the tag and added a little Biscotti PowderPuff Chalking Ink to the center. I wanted to "soften" the look of the ink so I used a little trick I know.

I misted the tag with water and used my finger to blend the water around the tag.

After the tag dried, the ink appeared to have a softer, more blended look.

I hope you can use my tricks in one of your crafty projects! Have a wondrful weekend!

Laughter of a Child...

Oopsy Daisy! I guess I have a little too much going on here to keep up with my posting!! Please forgive me! I would love to share our new challenge with you at Frosted Designs! We would love to see how you can incorporate quilting into your crafty projects! This challenge is open to so many possiblities! Here is what I created....

This LO is of my beautiful little girl when she had a sweet toothless grin! We had taken her to the American Girl store in Chicago where she picked out her twins... Zoe and Chloe! And of course, she had to get the matching dress!!

Almost all of the products used on this layout are Quick Quotes products. I LOVE this quote! QQ always has a quote when I can't come up with the words myself! I inked the edges to make is stand out a bit more!

And yes... I was crazy enough to cut out, ink and adhere each of the pieces that make up the background!! It was a lot of work but soooo worth it! I love the way it turned out!!

You will definitely want to stop over at Frosted Designs to see all of the inspiration from our Design Team! Everyone had their own take on the challenge and the projects are amazing!! I hope you can find some time this week to play along! We have a great prize up for grabs from Vintage Street Market!  :)

Mother's Day Inspiration!

Hello! Happy Friday! I am so glad you decided to stop by today! I have two Quick Quotes projects to share with you! Let's start with my Mother's Day Inspiration!  My mother is the most amazing lady. She has a heart of gold and is always there when I need her. I wanted to create a special card for her. Quick Quotes has so many beautiful lines of paper sometimes it is hard to select just one! For my Mother's Day Card, I decided to use the Dreamscape Papers! Gorgeous!

To try something different, I created a trifold card. The papers in the Dreamscape collection are very elegant and I didn't want to overwhelm the card with embellishments so I kept it fairly simple. I also wanted to be able to write a nice note to her so I left the space in the middle of the card for me to handwite a message.

This flower was simple to create. I took 3 circles/ovals in various sizes. I then used the PowderPuff Chalking Ink in Bicotti around the edges before rolling the edges up a bit. After that I layered them and added a flower center to complete it. Quick Quotes double sided papers work perfectly for these type of flowers because you get to see the other color/pattern when you roll the edges of the flowers.

Since we are focusing on the PowderPuff Chalking Inks, I thought it would be fun to show you how perfect they are for vellum when embossing! Here is a tutorial I for making the vellum embossed square you see in this picture.

I started with 1.5 inch vellum squares. Using the Very Berry PowderPuff Chalking Ink, I gently rubbed the ink pad over the top of the vellum square. These inks work perfectly for this type of project! If I had a spot that was too dark, I gently rubbed the ink pad over it again to even it out. Be sure to let the squares sit for a few minutes to dry.

I then placed the vellum inside one of the small Cuttlebug folders and ran it through my Cuttlebug to emboss it.

To finsh them off, I used my Purple Passion PowderPuff Chalking ink to lightly go over the embossed part of the vellum and around all the edges.

Here are the vellum squares all completed. I used a spary adhesive to attach them to my card. This is the perfect way to make a matching embellishment for any project!

Quick Quote Supplies Used:
Dreamscape Papers: 100, 300, 400
PowderPuff Chalking Inks: Very Berry, Purple Passion, Biscotti, Blue Moon

Other Supplies Used:
Cardstock: Core'dinations
Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug
Flowers, Chipboard: Michaels

Other: Ribbon

AND.... it is time for the Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge! I am especially excited about this one because Quick Quotes is this week's sponsor! The winner of the challenge can win a $15 Gift Certificate to the Quick Quotes Store! Our challenge this week is LACING! Yes... the actual act of lacing something, not lace, like the trim!! Here is my layout.....

I used the One Fine Day paper line for this layout. The colors were perfect for the photos and I love that the flowers have a tropical feel to them... perfect for our Cabo pictures!

I cut strips of patterned paper, rounded the corners and inked the edges. I then added various brads and fiber/embroidery floss to lace it all together.

The larger blue flower in this photo actually started out white. I inked it with PowderPuff Chalking Ink in Baja Blue. I then misted it with water and let it dry. I love how soft it looks!

Quick Quote Supplies Used:
Patterned Paper: One Fine Day - 400, 500
Ink: PowderPuff Chalking Inks- Baja Blue, Blue Hawaiian, Mango Mai Tai, Limeade

Other Supplies Used:
Flowers: Michaels
Fiber: EK Success
Other: Brads, flowers, embroidery floss

Thank you for stopping by to see both of my projects today! I hope you and all the mothers out there have a wonderful Mother's Day!
